Ms. "Heather" Heeyoung Choi actively works as a collaborative pianist and has appeared in song, instrument, and chamber music recitals. She has worked with great singers and instrumentalists and played also in orchestras and choirs.
Heather served for several seasons with Dallas Opera Outreach, giving many performances of Dr. Miracle (2011) and Jack and the Beanstalk (2012-2013). She has worked as repetiteur at UNT for Lucia di Lammermoor (2011), Il barbiere di Siviglia (2014), Die Walküre (2015), and Turandot (2017). With a wide variety of repertoire in her collaborations, from Baroque to contemporary literature, she has been very active in both in-school and beyond. Heather has appeared in song, instrument, and chamber music recitals including faculty recitals at UT Arlington, and has extensive experience as a choral pianist, having performed with the University choir and A Capella choir at UT Arlington, and with Concert Choir and Chamber Choir at UNT. She studied piano and harpsichord with Dr. John Solomons and Dr. Linton Powell at University of Texas at Arlington.
Heather has over 20 years of piano teaching experience and has a solid technical foundation. she has helped students understand the piano as an instrument and how to read music.
Heather holds a Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance from Yonsei University in Korea and a Master of Music degree collaborative piano from University of North Texas. Heather is pursuing her Doctor of Music degree at University of North Texas and expects to graduate in 2025.
Ms. Heather currently serves as a piano faculty member at Prime Music Institute.
