For PMI Carnegie Hall Performance in 2025
PMI Carnegie Hall Performance 2025
Frequently asked questions

Q: Do I have to be a PMI student to join this event?

A: No, both PMI and Non-PMI students are eligible for participating in this HUGE event.

Q: How does the audition work?

A: PMI is very honored to have invited Dr. Catharine Lysinger, an esteemed piano professor from Southern Methodist University, to be the audition judge. Each student will have about 1-10 minutes playing in the audition. Dr. Lysinger will rate your performance and provide comments. We set up this audition because the concert can only accommodate a limited number of performers due to the time limit. It's important to emphasize that the purpose of this audition is NOT to select a winner, nor is this a competition in any way. We will use the audition results to decide who might be selected to play at the Carnegie Hall concert.

Q: Does the audition repertoire have to be the same as the actual concert repertoire?

A: No. They can be different.

Q: What if I don’t know what my repertoire will be?

A: In the Google Form, you can just put “TBD”.

Q: How much is the recital fee?

A: Please ask our administration staff for the fee details.

Q: What does the recital fee cover?

A: It will cover the performance + photos + fully customized souvenirs.

Q: Does the performance fee cover the flight and hotel expenses?

A: No. Performers need to take care of their own flight and hotel expenses. Once selected to play in the concert, you should book the flight and hotel rooms ASAP to get the best deal.

Q: What if the performance gets canceled?

A: If the performance gets canceled by Carnegie Hall, then PMI will refund you the audition fee + recital fee.

Q: What if I decide not to enroll after I paid the recital fee?

A: Once you are selected to perform, you will have one week to pay the recital fee. You will have 3 weeks to get a full refund after you paid the recital fee if you changed your mind. After that, the transaction is final and closed, and the recital fee will be non-refundable.

Q: What if I cannot make it to the performance after I paid the recital fee?

A: Once the 3-week window has passed, the transaction is final and closed, and the recital fee will be non-refundable.
