Mr. Karim Pool
Violin

Mr. Karim Ayala Pool is an international concert violinist known for his versatility in all styles and musical eras. Throughout his career, Karim has been a soloist with multiple ensembles and orchestras in Mexico and the United States. Among these ensembles are the the Yucatán Symphony Orchestra, Merida Chamber Orchestra, the Shreveport Symphony, the North Texas Wind Symphony, the UNT Baroque Orchestra, the Fantasmi ensemble, Mansfield Philharmonic, and the Orchestra of the Escuela Superior de Artes de Yucatán (ESAY), among others. In 2020, he was the winner of the Concerto Competition of University of South Florida. The following year, he was a finalist in the Jean and Beattie Wood Concerto Competition at the Brevard Music Center Music Festival 2021.

Karim loves performing chamber music, and he continually engages with musicians in USA and Mexico. He has collaborated with artists such as the Baumer String Quartet, Decoda Ensemble, Bonnie Hampton and the renowned violinist William Hagen. He is also a founding member of the new music chamber ensemble Homegrown, a nonprofit organization focused on bringing the works of local contemporary composers to the concert stage.

As an orchestral violinist, Karim became the youngest member in the history of the Yucatan Symphony Orchestra when he joined at just sixteen years old back in 2008. He currently works in the United States quite actively, where he is part of the first violin section of the Waco Symphony Orchestra in Texas. He was previously named “Principal Second Violin” in the Shreveport Symphony in Louisiana, and also has performed as a substitute violinist for the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Louisville Symphony Orchestra, Tulsa Symphony Orchestra, Dallas Bach Society, New World Symphony, Sarasota Orchestra, and The Florida Orchestra. During the summers of 2016, 2018, and 2019, he was the Concertmaster for the Round Top Music Festival Orchestra, and he also served as part of the Concertmaster Studio at the Brevard Music Center in 2020 and 2021.

Mr. Ayala Pool has a strong passion for academics and pedagogy, and he is very experienced mentoring students of all ages from beginners to college-level and adults. Karim, currently ABD is working on the final steps towards earning his Doctorate in Musical Arts (DMA) at the University of North Texas (UNT), where he is part of the studio of Professor Julia Bushkova.

Mr. Karim currently serves as a violin faculty member at Prime Music Institute.
